Orthopaedic Associates of Central Maryland is fully equipped with state-of-the-art on-site imaging to help our doctors diagnose and treat bone, muscle, tendon, and ligament injuries and conditions.
OACM uses the latest high-tech digital X-ray equipment, which has a number of advantages over traditional film X-rays.
Computer-enhanced digital images produce larger, clearer images that can help the doctor make a more accurate diagnosis. In addition, more recent X-rays can be digitally compared to previous X-rays. This enables the doctor to catch the smallest of changes earlier. Digital X-rays also use up to 90 percent less radiation than traditional X-rays.
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
Magnetic resonance imaging, or MRI, uses a magnetic field and a sophisticated computer system to create reliable and detailed images of the body. In orthopaedics, we use MRI for high-quality images of soft tissue areas such as tendons, ligaments, and muscles. Our MRI machine produces very clear images of the extremities, including the hand, wrist, elbow, shoulder, hip, knee, foot, and ankle.
MRI can help provide information for a fast and accurate diagnosis and possibly reduce the need for exploratory surgery or other diagnostic procedures.
